Desmond and I were talking about how we don't have any reviews up on my book at Amazon. And Amazon's important if you want to get your second career off the ground!

SO! We started a promotional program that will run from now until 4:00 PM Thursday this week- December 6th!

Between now and 4:00 PM Thursday, every review posted on Amazon for The Story of Rachel will be in a draw for a $75.00 gift certificate! All you have to do is read the book (it's kind of short), and post a review by the deadline. A name will be picked randomly (yes, that's from the good and bad reviews; all honest I hope) and they get the gift certificate!!

Here's the link for The Story of Rachel:

Now I'm not going burn up the free days for download on Kindle; so you can download at Smashwords using the cupon code

If you want a PDF File for download, I'm going to try to either put it up here, or else I'll put it in a page!

Dammit!! I'm not kinky? I'm typical??

I just came across this article in Psychology Today about D/s and BDSM. The author's position is that domination/submission is a rather normal part of everybody's sexuality from Vanilla to all shades of sexy. Here is the gist of what he said...
"The venerable erotic subculture of BDSM is not an atypical variant of human sexuality. Rather, its enthusiasts intensely focus on one of the most basic and universal--and typical--components of human sexuality. They were the first to identify the primal dominance/submission cue in the neuropsychology of the humanbrain and hold it up to the light. All contemporary textbooks rightly include a prominent chapter on sexual orientation. Perhaps future textbooks will afford dominance orientation the same attention, instead of relegating it to the status of unorthodox paraphilia."
Here's the link for the full article
This isn't as far out as it used to be but I don't think there's going to be a spanking land at Disneyland, but if they did I'm sure it would by good! :)

On Spirituality

One of the themes that I have in my writing is sexuality, in all its flavors, without pain, fear or guilt. Yet, in our society, damning judgements are made by so many usually in the name of some moral code. On one extreme are fundamentalists of all types- women beaten in the Middle East by self appointed 'protectors', to kids in school calling other children sluts because of the way they dress, just to name a few.

I have always found good sex to be a transcendental experience. Not ALL sex- a good romp, a happy quickie has it's place! But those wonderful, passionate encounters, where I lose myself in my partner, who is also lost in me; those episodes have a spiritual dimension. They're just plain GOOD. In and of themselves, they're a gift.

Which begs the question 'Gift from Whom?'.

For a long time, I have explored issues of the Spirit. I believe that we are MORE than these atoms, molecules, cells and organs that make up our bodies. My explorations have led me to the books of Neal Donald Walsch- if you are interested in inspired writing, his books are magnificent.

Just as I am a person with a Spiritual side, I am also a rational being, living in a world where reason is also a value, no? But generally speaking, science does not allow for questions of Spirituality. Which makes sense- if empirical methods are those employed, and you cannot see or measure one's soul, what the hell can you expect? And, in my life, the advances of science have led to many many good things in this world I live in.

I love my hot tub! LOL

I remember when I was an undergrad in Psychology, and one of my professors- a man who had lost the love of his life to cancer- stood before the class telling us that the sooner we learn to accept that when the brain dies we cease to exist, when he said that, I was profoundly disturbed.

And yet that professor's viewpoint is an accepted tenet of psychology, neurology, and even brain surgery.

Up till now.
Over the last few months, I've read a tale of a remarkable experience by one of the top brain surgeons in the world. No kidding- his resume reads like one of the characters in a romance novel! Accomplished MD, Ivy League professor, tall, handsome…

I digress….

Anyway, he had the experience of being literally brain dead for a week. And he came back.

And he has a message to tell, and I want to share it here.

IF you've read this far, then take this gift of what Doctor Eben Alexander has to say here:

Naturally, he was pilloried by many other scientists, and here is his response.

These articles were a delight for me to read, and I hope that you enjoy them too!

Writing Up A Storm!

Desmond and I have completed the next couple of books in the Tales of Pandora series!  We are doing the research on marketing and where best to E-publish. The number of websites is overwhelming! We're trying to get up to speed with social media and welcome anyone's advice on this....

Here are the covers of the next 2 books to go live within the next couple of weeks!

There's a Fourth (And Final) Book in Pandora Series!

Saving Annik is Book 4 in the tales of Pandora series.  It is in the final editing stage and will be published in December.

Final Preparations for Book Launches!

Well, it's been a busy busy two weeks.

Desmond and I finished the final drafts for the first three books of Tales of Pandora series.

Except now a whole other list- a very, very long list- of things have to be done!
We've had to decide how we're going to market the book- submit to publishers or self publish as an ebook? Well, that wasn't a hard question to answer; and we're putting them up on Amazon etc in the next day or two.

And after all the proofing etc, we're formatting the books for cloud availability, and in the process learning that editors and production staff at publishing houses really, really earn their pay!

And now I'm trying to develop a marketing plan using social media.
I was hesitant about this, because I didn't want to go on Facebook or other sites just to use people. I put that question up, in fact, at the Erotic Readers and Writers Assoc and got some good feedback and genuine encouragement.

Which gave me the guts to set up FB and join some other circles.

Now back to formatting!

Sunday, 29 July 2012

I just checked Amazon and have just seen that I sold my first copy of The Story of Rachel!

OMG. I'm published and SOLD author.
I'm now an author.... look out Ann Rice!!! One down, twenty zillion to go... lol Somebody, BOUGHT my work. This is an awesome moment for me. Wow.

Sure; it's probably one of my buds; but I don't know who right now.... I hope that I do find out; because they just gave me one hell of a gift.

(And now, I'm on pins and needles for their comments. Please-- puh-leeeze... L I E ok? lol

What a feeling!

Tech Support just made it very clear to me that I'm the author. Yeah, he said, 'I edited your book; but YOU wrote it!'

What a feeling.
Well, it's done. Checked Amazon this AM when getting up- no sales. Aaand... I found a big mistake on the book's description! Instead of 'Tales of Pandora' I left out an 'a' and it says 'Tales of Pandor'!!! Dam. After all the work Tech Support and I did to get rid of typos and such, WE HAVE A TYPO RIGHT OUT FRONT!!This ain't no Avatar fanfic!! AAaaa!

Oh well...
Tech Support went into the site,  did some clicking and sighing and fixed it (I think). I'll check later.

Last night we went to a Play Party at WarmBuns with the Kingston Kinkster's group. Since I put in acknowledgements to Master Joe and cassie- the owners of WarmBuns, and also to Twist Ties- the founder and leader of KK, Tech Support and I thought we should print out copies of The Story of Rachel and present them to them, which we did.

Tech Support actually gave a reading there! lol We weren't there to flog the book; but to honor some dear friends. To go around trying to sell something for a lousy buck would be unseemly; Tech Support is going to look into putting an ad up on FetLife though. We'll see.

Those are the first two copies of my first book ever owned by somebody else! Too damn bad I can't give copies to my kids! (Eeew!) lol

We hadn't been to WarmBuns for a party in months and months. Too busy here at home with rennos. and with the writing bug having infected so deeply. It was great to reconnect and to meet new friends.

Now to start to look at marketing the book.

It's done.
It's doooone!!!!
My first book has been accepted by Amazon for sale in The Kindle Store.

Tech Support and I have worked on this all day long; and a big chunk of Thursday and Friday.

I have to admit, that I had no idea until I started, that writing a book of any length could be so much work. Don't get me wrong- it's rewarding, but hard nevertheless. First you get the idea.

Then you start writing.
And realize you need a lot of revisions.
Then you revise your revisions!
       about a hundred times!!

Then you're done!
Not on a bet.

Then you print out, and find alllll the typos you missed.
Okay, now your done.

You print out again, and have second thoughts about chapter twoo!!!
More revisions.
Not yet.

Got a cover?
Got a table of contents? Hunh?
Got it formatted rite? Right? Right.

Get back to work.
How's those typos looking?

Finally, after the drudgery, you get the notification that it was accepted by Amazon, and will be available for sale tomorrow.

It was Tech Support's Bday.  Took him to Ottawa, NAC to see 'WICKED'.  A fabulous show!  Great music, costumes, set and quirky story.  I especially liked the Wicked Witch of the west commenting on Dorothy taking her sister's shoes - 'What kind of kid take's the shoes off a dead woman?'

Commanded by Tech support

My guy, the tech support specialist, held my hand while I made the first post. He is now making me go solo!
I hate GoDaddy, more on that episode later.. If you read this and are considering doing a website, read the rest of my post but stay away from GoDaddy.  They will bleed you white and they don't start helping you until you are walking out the door.
I will be putting up my step by step experiences creating a website here,
i have to sign out now, because Tech Support is collecting payment...Yippeee!!!

Oh MY Gawwd

Well, here I am on the web. Yes, I read the books on how to make a zillion dollars writing and selling my stories online. One of the things that they said was to put a blog together. OK, here it is. Whoop dee doo!

I've just finished my first book- The Story of Rachel, and I'm deep into my second- Annik's Story, and I have the outline completed for a third book already.

I feel like I'm just starting out, but at my age, it's a lot of work! I'm grateful at this stage in my life to have something that consumes me. I really hope people read, and more importantly B U Y my books. Does anyone here realize how expensive English Castles are????? Barbara Taylor Bradford owns one, why can't I???

I'm not a tech person. Setting up this blog was a trial. And my next post is going to be a total slam on those HUSSIES from!!!! Cute women during the Superbowl, sure! But OMG! What a trial it's been to just set up a website.....

Back to the books- the Muses are calling....
